September is Suicide Prevention Awareness and Action Month at Project Safety Net. Please join us for the following events:

    Palo Alto City Council Proclamation Presentation of National Suicide Prevention Awareness Week

  • Tuesday, September 12
    Workshop: suicide to Hope
    8:30 am-4:30 pm
    Santa Clara County Suicide Prevention Program
    The goal of the suicide to Hope workshop is to encourage and enable participants to apply a recovery and growth oriented approach to working with persons previously at risk and currently safe from suicide. Successful completion of the two-day Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) is required to participate. This workshop is currently full, but will be offered again on Tuesday, November 21, 2017.

    Training: Youth Mental Health First Aid
    8:30 am- 4:30 pm
    Palo Alto Art Center Auditorium
    1313 Newell Road, Palo Alto
    Just as CPR helps you assist an individual having a heart attack, Mental Health First Aid helps you assist someone experiencing a mental health or substance abuse related crisis. Youth Mental Health First Aid is primarily designed for adults who regularly interact with young people (ages 12-18). The course introduces mental health challenges for youth, reviews typical adolescent development, and teaches a 5-step action plan for how to help young people in both crisis and non-crisis situations.     NAMIWalks Silicon Valley is a community outreach fundraiser to bring awareness, educate and reduce stigma in mental health. Connect with others and join the Project Safety Net Walk Team!

    Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR) Training in partnership with the Palo Alto Community Health Fair
    2:00- 4:00 pm

    Enter through King Plaza
    Question, Persuade and Refer (QPR) are 3 simple steps that anyone can learn to help save a life from suicide. People trained in QPR learn how to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to question, persuade, and refer someone to help.  Space is limited, so please register today!
